I have been thinking of writing my praises for a tv series Once Upon a Time for a while now; however, I could never materialize this wish of mine. On reading the prompt of the day, Price, the dialogue of Rumplestiltskin popped into my head,
Magic always comes with a price, dearie!
My logical brain knows that I could come up with a more enriching topic, but what’s wrong in splurging every once in a while. Writing about my favorite TV series is my idea of fun.
For those of you who have not come across this series, here is the plot of Once Upon a Time. How would you like it, if all your favorite fairy tale characters were brought to one place, and you could see all of them in one tv show? If you share my enthusiasm then this show is the answer to all your prayers. From the point that I started watching this series, I can summarize it in this way:Regina, the stepmother of prince Charming, casts a spell on every living being of her magical world that forces them to come into a small town, Storybrooke. Snow White, Prince Charming, Emma — the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, seven dwarves, fairies, Rumplestiltskin, Peter Pan, Cinderella, and many others appear in this one place. There is one catch, though. Everyone has forgotten their past.

There is one catch, though. Everyone has forgotten their past. While watching the show, one cannot help but wish for Snow White and Prince Charming to remember something from their past and get back together. The writer has added many twists to the classic tales by using the powerful character, Rumplestiltskin. He acts as the fairy godmother, but not in the traditional sort of way. He grants their wishes in exchange for something, as he believes that magic always comes with a price. Throughout the series, we see many instances where his take on magic proves true, and people suffer the consequences of taking a shortcut to happiness.
Contrary to what one many think, I love the character of the evil queen. Regina is outstanding, fierce, bold, and powerful. Her character is written in a manner that develops viewers’ empathy for her. Each actor fits the role, perfectly, and the story progresses flawlessly. I am sad that I have missed one or two seasons of this series. I am planning to catch up online, soon.
