Four more SHOTS Please! – A Fan Speaks.

The much advertised and talked-about series, Four more SHOTS please!, with all its glamorous hoardings and funny trailers, promised to be nothing less than an entertaining show. Some presumed it to be the reincarnation of SATC (aka, Sex and the City series); whereas, few others believed it to be closer to Veere di Wedding. However, did any of those presumptions actually prove true or did Four more SHOTS please turn out to be a truly original series.

Although Four more SHOTS please could not entice me enough, my sister — who, by the way, doesn’t like to binge watch any TV series — did not put down her phone until finishing the whole series. I caught her laughing (not chuckling, not grinning, actually laughing) so many times. This both fascinated and scared me. I knew I had to sit her down and talk about the show. So, here it goes. What was it about Four more SHOTS please that turned my “Never Binge-watching” sister to “Gotta finish the whole season in one go” kinda gal? Find out for yourself.

*Caution Alert* – There may be a few spoilers here & there. So, beware.

Me: What drew you towards Four more SHOTS please in the first place?

Shona: Since I like girly things a lot. I was instantly attracted by beautiful ladies, expensive jewelry, glamorous shots, and trendy clothes. I thought let’s just try the series. If nothing turns out good enough about the plot, at least I’ll get some fashion tips.

Me: So, did the plot land to your expectations?

Shona; Since the beginning, I was hooked to the story. I ate up everything that they served; however, the end of the season disappointed me. *Spoiler Alert* It was negative, and everything went downhill.

Me: What is your favorite scene in Four more SHOTS please?

Shona: When Siddhi called her mom by her name, and, finally, gave her a piece of her mind. That outburst was the highlight of my day. I was so fed up with her mom picking up on her.

Me: Which character did you relate to the most?

Shona: Siddhi. Ooh how I loved her! She is exactly like me. Her only ambition in life is to be a housewife. Her interest is limited to only clothes, accessories, and roaming around. Plus, she is the source of positive energy in the show.

Me: Is there any character that did not speak to you at all?

Shona: *Thinks really long and hard* Actually, none. They are all well portrayed characters. Each one of them has done a fabulous job.

Me: I believe many people are drawn to Four more SHOTS please due to Bani. What did you think about her role and acting?

Shona: Oh, extremely good. I feel that her body and body language are quite masculine, which fitted perfectly to the character’s needs. She was believable as a fierce fitness trainer.

Me: Which of these two do you relate Four more SHOTS please more: SATC or Veere Di Wedding?

Shona: I found it closer to SATC. Like Sex and the City, this series is quite open about sex. Also, a major part, like SATC, revolves around that.

Me: Is there any funny scene that is still in your head?

Shona: Oh yes! The scene where Siddhi asked her nanny the reason for her mom being so angry, and the nanny replied that when people are hungry, they are angry. It doesn’t sound that funny right now, but the spontaneity with which this conversation takes place is hilarious.

Me: What is the main takeaway, if any, from the series?

Shona: Body shaming is the main aspect that, I feel, has been targeted in this season. Siddhi was emotionally and mentally tormented by her own mother because of her body weight. I could see Siddhi losing her way because of her mom’s continuous harsh comments, and it really bothered me. This is a major takeaway from the series that body shaming is not a harmless act. It is a very cruel and obvious way to actually hurt someone and break their spirit. Parents should help their kids, nudge them towards a healthy lifestyle, but never break their self-esteem by being mean and too straightforward.

Me: If you could reach out to the writers of the next season of Four more SHOTS please — assuming that there would be a next season — what would you suggest them to include/exclude?

Shona: If I could, I would ask them to make the ending less negative. End the season on a positive note and a glimpse into the next season.

Me: What are you going to watch next on Amazon Prime?

Shona: I have already started watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season.1. I have heard so much about it from you that I thought let’s try it.

Thank you for your time. Go watch The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel now.

Depends on the audience, I believe 😊 I am a crazy fan of SATC, so even the thought of watching its replica seemed like cheating to me 😁 My sister, however, loved this show. I saw her chuckling so many times while she was watching it 🥰

I actually never heard of Four more Shots Please! It should not be surprising as I am not one to watch TV or movies on a regular basis. It does sound like a good show to glean an important lesson about relationships.

I binge watched this and to be honest, didn’t like it much. It fails to capture the real issues and portrays feminism by way of empowered women smoking and drinking. This is a good interview though!
